Chris Gotz has been described by Financial Mail SA magazine as "Arguably South African advertising's most talented and influential creative leader".
After a successful stint at TBWA he moved to Ogilvy and Mather in 2000. And so began a career working at both the Cape Town and Johannesburg offices. During his time there he rose from Copywriter to Chief Creative Officer.
From 2009, heading up creative at Ogilvy Cape Town, Chris took the agency from 17th, to the number 1 ranked creative agency in South Africa by 2012. It held this position for 4 consecutive years.
With his partner, MD Gavin Levinsohn, he built a creative business with digital and integration at its heart. In 2014 Ogilvy Cape Town was named Financial Mail SA Agency of the Year. Chris was named SA Advertising Achiever of the Year.
In 2013 Chris was made CCO of Ogilvy South Africa. The company has since been the top ranked creative agency in South Africa in 2013, 2014, 2015.
Chris was made Chair of the Creative Circle, the representative body for South African Creatives in 2012.
He has judged at Cannes, OneShow and was the opening speaker at the 2013 International Design
Chris has won numerous international awards, including a Cannes Grand Prix for Radio for Lucozade in 2014, Ogilvy's first Mobile Lion for SAB Miller in 2012, and Ogilvy's first Gold Lion for Branded Content, also for SAB Miller in 2012.
In 2015 Chris and his family transferred to Ogilvy Chicago where he took up a Global ECD position on all SC Johnson brands. He returned from the USA in late 2016 to take up an exciting new position as a shareholder and National Creative Head at OFyt.
